Success without Confidence: Is it Possible?

Success without confidence? Most people and gurus will tell you that confidence is necessary to succeed in life. There is a truth behind that, and also truth behind being successful without confidence. In my life, confidence has played a huge role in my career, but I would also admit that my lack of confidence also played a role. So let us discuss in this article, can you succeed without confidence?

You can succeed in life without confidence. This is because success is not the same for everybody. There are some successes where confidence is not necessary so you won’t need confidence to succeed. There are many factors that can result in success and confidence is usually just a single part of the equation.

Success is definitely the target of almost all people and confidence will surely play a role in success. For me, the changes in my life came when I became confident. However, I still believe that success is not all confidence. It is true that confidence plays a huge role, but there are other factors to consider. This article will discuss all of these factors and will answer the relationship between success and confidence.

Can you Succeed without Confidence?

You can succeed without confidence because there are numerous factors besides confidence that can lead you to success. In fact, fear, which is the lack of confidence is used by others in order to work harder on their goals. People using fear also tend to be successful in life.

While I believe in the power of confidence and how it helped me reached where I am right now, I also believe that most people seem to overrate confidence.

Confidence is important. I know that a lot and in my experience, it helped me gather my energy to work on my goals.

But there is a problem with that. While confidence is important in working on difficult goals, the importance of confidence to achieve things in life varies greatly on the goal of the individual.

Here is an example for you to ponder upon.

In my case, I actually have no confidence in my abilities when I first started making articles. But it now changed now that I’ve made a lot.

Right now, confidence has been a big part of my life and it is the confidence that brought me the growth which I was looking for.

It all started with learning about my clear values and goals in life. Without knowing clear values and goals, you will never know if you need confidence to succeed or not.

This is because our definition of success differs from person to person and our goals differ at different moments of our lives.

For example, if your definition of success is a peaceful life in the countryside, I don’t think you need a lot of confidence to succeed in that.

But if your goal is to be a millionaire businessman, then we are talking about the need for lot of confidence to achieve that.

That is the reason I am a firm believer of clear values. I made an article discussing more about clear values and why it is important. It is a good read after this article. I promise you that once you’ve read that, you will have a clear understanding on why I always stress about on becoming sure on your real goals and aspirations in life. Here is the article: What is the importance of having clear values in life?

As you can see, the confidence required to be successful will be extremely different depending on your aspirations in life. On one type, you will need a lot. But it is the opposite on another.

That is why you should be clear on your goals and ambitions. You might have an ambition that doesn’t require much confidence and you are trying your best to build confidence, in those instances, you are just wasting your time.

If you need help in knowing your clear goals and values, then I recommend you do self-reflection. Self-reflection is very important for you to understand the deeper parts of yourself.

I have a tutorial that will teach you the basics of self-reflection. Even if it is basic, I made it as effective as possible. Just follow the steps and I promise that you’ll have a very efficient self-reflection practice: How to develop your Self-Reflection Practice

If you want more tips on doing self-reflection, here is an article with 25 tips to get better results when you do self-reflection: How do you Reflect on Personal Development or Growth

With those, you will understand your real definition of success. You will be sure if you really need confidence to succeed.

But there is a chance that you might really need confidence and the problem is you don’t have one. Then it’s definitely fine because we are now going to discuss this.

When I finally made a decision to make my own website, I had 0 confidence in my own abilities. I am not a writer or a web developer. There is also a voice inside telling me that no one will listen to what I will say.

As you can see, it is a sign of the lack of confidence. I admit that I have no confidence when I was started making my own website.

But as you can see, making a website requires confidence. If I have no confidence, I wouldn’t be able to write this article you’re reading upon.

That’s why we can use fear to our advantage.

We are going to discuss fear in the next section.

“F-E-A-R has two meanings: ‘Forget Everything And Run’ or ‘Face Everything And Rise.’ The choice is yours.”

― Zig Ziglar

What happens if you don’t have Confidence?

Not having confidence robs you of opportunities you should’ve had. This causes you to miss things that can make your life better. This is because if you lack confidence, you will always doubt your abilities leading you to freeze on situations where you can do something.

The lack of confidence forces others to just run away from the problem. This makes self-doubt a big problem to face by a lot of people.

You will always hear old people say that one of their biggest regret is their doubts. They didn’t pursue their goals in life and it is very sad hearing those who regret their past mistakes.

But we still have a chance. It is true that the lack of confidence forces others to run away and hide. You should never be like that.

To motivate you into not running away, let me share my story.

I started my website with zero ability and confidence. In fact, it took me 4 hours to just write my first 800 word article. I was filled with anxiety and doubt.

Did you know that 90% of websites are not earning any money. This means that as of this writing, this website is already in the top 10%.

I know that 90% when I was starting. I have no confidence. I have a fear that I will just waste my money and effort into this.

But instead of running away, I faced my fears. I used my fear in order to work harder on my dreams and goals.

This means that I listened to other bloggers, got their advice. I studied how to write. Instead of running, I gathered every willpower I had to finally make my own website.

I remembered how embarrassing my first article is. I deleted it so you won’t ever see that article again on the internet.

But I used my fear to my advantage. The fear that I have no skills to write.

Instead of freezing and not doing anything, I wrote a lot and studied how to make a good blog post. Right now, I have made hundreds of articles.

On my fear of building a website, I took on the challenge and tried to learn how to make a fully functioning website. That’s why you can read this article on a fully functioning website.

If you are in doubt and you really need confidence, it is good to face them. The only thing you need to remember is to do your best by learning more to improve your confidence.

That’s right, the more you get better at a certain skill, the more confidence you get.

Right now, I am confident in my writing. This is because I have faced my fears hundreds of times.

So if you think you lack confidence, then use that fear to your advantage.

Sometimes you just have to jump and face your fears since it is usually better on the other side.

What does your Lack of Confidence tell You?

I am not someone who will tell you that confidence is everything. This is because your lack of confidence is a big sign that there is something that you need to think about.

The lack of confidence tells you that you might lack the skills and abilities to accomplish the task. This means that you are doubting yourself because you are not prepared for what is yet to come. This is a good thing because you can prepare in order to succeed.

While it is good to just take the leap of faith and do something, there are some instances where your self-doubt is telling you that you really need to prepare for things.

For example, in my case, it usually takes a year for websites to get some authority in google so no one will care if I fail my first 30 articles.

I took that to my advantage that’s why I took the leap and started this site even with no confidence and knowledge on website making.

I didn’t get many visitors in my first 2 years and I didn’t mind. It’s a risk I am willing to take.

But it will be a different story if we are talking about other things such as when you are making something that involves a lot of risks.

Your lack of confidence and your gut instinct might be telling you that you need more preparation in order to succeed.

There are times that you might need to listen to yourself. Those are the times. When risks are too high, it is better to have a good preparation for things to come.

Self-doubt teaches us that there are things that are way bigger for our current abilities.

As you can see, the lack of confidence is not too bad. It teaches us a lot of things. We just need to listen to it.

Listening to yourself doesn’t mean that you will follow it. As I said, there are risks you can take. If you can take the risk, then jump and do your best.

If there are too much risk, then maybe it is time to think first, follow your doubts, and improve yourself first before facing them.

Recommended Books

The next thing is books. Books are, for me, one of the cheapest ways to get invaluable information. We can learn personal development, finance, career, relationships, and many more from books.

Here, I will be listing my favorite books in different categories.

  1. For Beginners7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey – Personal development has a lot of concepts and ideas to learn. Thus it can be really hard for beginners to know where to start. Thus, I recommend this book since all the basic concepts of personal development are here(except finance, check what I recommended for that)
  2. ProductivityThe One Thing by Gary Keller – This book teaches us the power of focusing on one thing which is the ultimate source of productivity. The concepts taught are what I am using to constantly publish YouTube videos while maintaining this website.
  3. Busy?Make Time by Jack Knapp – This book teaches us how to make time for the things we love. The concept is really simple but I think that makes it a book worth reading.
  4. HealthLifespan by Dr.Sinclair – This Book teaches about the latest scientific research on lifespan. In his book, he has shared numerous things he is doing to slow down his aging process. This can be as easy as eating less which he recommends.
  5. FinanceThe Richest Man in Babylon by George Clason – Perhaps one of the first books I’ve read about Finance, this book for me is the best if we are talking about learning basic finance such as basic saving and investing. The concepts are very simple but effective.

Audiobooks

Take this advice as a grain of salt.

I don’t recommend buying Audiobooks one by one. I mean, audiobooks can be quickly finished by listening while working out or doing some mindless tasks.

So here is to save you some money. Just go for a monthly subscription to Audible. I believe that you will save a lot of money with that plus, they usually give freebies to anyone starting.

My Audiobook Recommendation will always be the same as my book recommendations, but I personally like The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins. I like how she is so casual while reading her book.
